What an irony! Blog for passion and don’t blog for money

Truth be told, quantifying the numbers of bloggers who blog for passion and those who blog for money, those that blog for money far outweighs those that blog for passion.

That your mentor that is advising you to blog for passion and not for money, have you tried finding out what he/she blog for?

Newbie and struggling bloggers out there often receive the advice from those above them to blog for passion and not for money and that at the long run money will come without them getting to understand the full meaning of that ironical statement.
What an irony! Blog for passion and don’t blog for money

When you look around it is quite difficult to get bloggers that blog solely for passion. What blogging for passion entails here is that you continue blogging whether you are making money or not. Not making money will never be a barrier that will stop you from blogging.

My question is how many bloggers belong to the above mentioned category? Very few, I must tell you.

Most bloggers out there want to be rewarded at the end, they want something that will be commensurate to and complement their effort. For those that are full time bloggers, they need their pay from their work (blogging).

So you can’t start telling us here that a full time blogger blog only for passion even when nothing tangible is coming out of it. If so, how does he/she feed, how does he/she pay his bills; internet subscription, hosting plans and how does he/she go for paid blog promotions, etc.

In other words, it is fact that many blog for money either directly or indirectly. Though many pro blogger advice struggling bloggers to blog for passion without being able to relate or explain properly how the ironical statement plays out.

That is the message I will be conveying today, to tell you how that statement plays out and how it impact your blogging activities.

Whenever you hear the advice, that you should blog for passion and not for money and that at the long run money will come; what that translate in real sense is that you are blogging for money as opposed to passion alone.

What they are trying to relate here when they make such statement is that, it is only when you start being passionate about blogging that you can last in the blogosphere. Again during the dry periods of blogging, it is only your passion that can propel you to continue giving your best, since you have been able to convert blogging as your love.

On the other way round, if you put money only in front on the course of blogging, you will not be able to give out your full potential, because all you see is money that is not yet forthcoming, instead of to be focusing on ways to improve or enhance your blogging activities at every stage. You tend to becloud your thoughts with money which will eventually lead to reduction in propensity to succeed.

Even if we all know that most of you blog for money, but let the passion be put first and definitely the money will come thereafter. The moment you put money first, there is high tendency you end up not making the money and at the same time lose the passion.

I hope by now you must have seen the hidden meaning behind the advice “Blog for passion and not for money”

  2. Hi Edwin,

Thanks for this wonderful post. Nowadays, i hate to be hearing the statement "BLOG FOR PASSION & NOT MONEY". To make money, requires a clear brain. A man has got to see that two and two make four; he must lay all his plans with reflection and forethought, and closely examine all the details and the ins and outs of business.

Weather you like it or not. Blogging is not easy and you will never make money unless you invest enough resources into it.Forget the stories of don't blog for money, blog for passion. Let me tell you truth, everyone blogs for money, the passion is only refreshed because of the money. Otherwise, passion can suddenly become agony. AM glad you talk about this in the first paragraph of this article post.

I hope this article post will go along way in helping upcoming bloggers
